HISTORY OF COMMUNITY
BANK
The concept of starting a new bank in Alva was
conceived in 1980. Various business people and individuals in the area
were approached and soon became a fundamental part in making the idea
of a new bank a reality. After about two years, with little
progress, a total of 5 people remained and those 5 were still
dedicated to chartering a new bank. Without hesitation, the 5
began their plans and after many evening meetings, it was finally time
to proceed with charting Community Bank.
When the final group of organizers was
compiled, and the mounds of paperwork was completed an application was
submitted for a new bank "Community Bank." In
March 1982, the application was formally accepted for filing by the
Regional Administrator of National Banks and on August 10, 1983, a
temporary charter was granted to the organizers.
From the time that the organizers were granted the temporary charter
until the actual charter was issued July 16, 1984, the group continued
their meetings to conduct the necessary business that was required to
get the bank open.
Much credit must be given to those 5 people, who have sacrificed their
time, efforts,
and money. To those who believed, the employees of Community Bank would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for their
hard work and dedication.
